The drive offers beautiful views and highlights like Hattu Peak, rising to 3,400 meters, surrounded by lush conifer, oak, and maple forests. You'll also visit the sacred Kali Temple and a unique hilltop cricket ground. Continuing past Sarahan, the road winds through deep valleys and forested slopes, eventually reaching Sangla, where you'll settle in for the night.

Day 3: Local Sightseeing of Chitkul and Sangla Valley

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting out to explore the majestic Sangla Valley. Begin with a visit to Kamru Fort, home to the revered Kamakshi Devi Temple and surrounded by traditional Kinnauri wooden architecture. The journey continues through the valley along the Baspa River, eventually bringing you to Chitkul—the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border, famed for its scenic beauty and high-quality potatoes. After a day of cultural discovery and stunning vistas, return to your Sangla hotel for a restful evening.

Day 4: Sangla to Kalpa via Reckong Peo

Today, you'll head to Kalpa, one of Kinnaur's most iconic villages. En route, pass through the district headquarters at Reckong Peo, where you can enjoy a Tibetan-style lunch. On reaching Kalpa, you'll be greeted by views of the majestic Kinner Kailash range. Visit the nearby Roghi Village, known for its traditional Himachali lifestyle and dramatic cliffs. The day ends with peaceful surroundings, apple orchards, and crisp mountain air.

Day 5: Kalpa to Tabo via Gue and Nako

Post breakfast, begin your long yet rewarding drive to Tabo. Along the route, stop at Nako, a serene village beside a high-altitude lake, and the mysterious Gue Village, home to a 600-year-old naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk. The landscapes grow more rugged and dramatic as you enter Spiti Valley. By evening, arrive in Tabo, a quiet town rich in spiritual history, and check into your hotel for the night.

Day 6: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar Monastery

Begin the day with a visit to the ancient Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest in the Himalayas, renowned for its murals and Buddhist scriptures. Later, continue to Dhankar Monastery and Fort, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Spiti and Pin River confluence. Take in the spiritual energy and panoramic views before reaching Kaza by evening, where you'll settle in for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Local Exploration of Kaza and Nearby Villages

Spend the day discovering the wonders of Kaza and its surroundings. Learn about the region's cultural ties to Tibet and Ladakh, and interact with the warm, welcoming locals. If weather and road conditions allow, visit Hikkim, home to one of the world's highest post offices, as well as the villages of Komic and Langza, each offering rare glimpses into life in this remote Himalayan region. Return to Kaza for a cozy night in the valley.

Day 8: Kaza to Chandratal Lake via Kunzum Pass

After breakfast, set out early for the mesmerizing Chandratal Lake, traveling via Kunzum Pass and Batal. Known as the Moon Lake, this high-altitude glacial lake sits in a crescent shape amidst snow-capped peaks. After a short trek from the parking area, you'll be rewarded with stunning reflections and serene silence. Spend the night at a campsite near the lake, under a blanket of stars, enjoying the peaceful beauty of the Spiti wilderness.
